Congratulations to Lexington on being named Nebraska Community of the Year! The City received the honor at the 2026 Governor’s Summit September 29, which included the Nebraska Diplomats and organized to recognize standout leaders and businesses.
Confronted with the challenge of Tyson’s plant closure, leaders in Lex have taken bold steps to respond and recover.
The City of Lexington has reached agreement with Tyson to acquire key assets that it is leveraging to attract private investment, create new jobs, and encourage long-term industrial revitalization.
The city and local entities have also worked cooperatively to connect displaced workers with alternative employment opportunities and assistance resources.
Throughout the recovery process, the community’s attitude has been marked by strength, togetherness, and an unwavering belief that Lexington’s best days are ahead!
