Founded: August 1, 1907, originally part of the U.S. Army Signal Corps. It became a its own separate branch in 1947.
The United States Air Force (USAF) is the air service branch of the United States Armed Forces, and is the second largest branch. The USAF’s core competencies include air supremacy, global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, rapid global mobility, global strike, and command and control. Its core values are Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.
Along with conducting independent air operations, the United States Air Force provides air support for land and naval forces and aids in the recovery of troops in the field.
The USAF is the world’s largest air force, and is the second largest service branch of the U.S. Armed Forces
